Change Improper to Mixed Fraction and v.v.
Improper to Mixed
Divide the numerator by its denominator (Quotient and Remainder).
The quotient will the whole number part and the Remainder will be the numerator of the fraction part, the denominator will remain.
Example: Convert \( \frac{7}{3}\) to its equivalent mixed fraction.
Divide numberator by its denominator 7÷3 = 2 r. 1
\( \frac{7}{3} = 2 \frac{1}{3}\)
Mixed to Improper
Multiply the denominator and whole part
Add the product to the numerator and the answer will be the new numerator, the denominator remain thesame.
Example: Convert \( 2 \frac{1}{3}\) to its equivalent Improper fraction.
Multiply denominator and the whole part 2x3 = 6
Add to numerator: 6 + 1 = 7
\( 2 \frac{1}{3} = \frac{7}{3}\)
