Factors are numbers that can divide a given number with out a remainder. For example 5 is a factor of 10 because 10/5 = 2.
Multiple is a number that can be divided by a certain integer with out a remainder. For example 12 is a multiple of 6 since 12/6 = 2, no remainder.
2 | 2 can divide 12 because 12 is even |
3 | 3 can divide 12 because 1+2 = 3 which is divisible by 3 |
4 | 4 can divide 12 |
6 | 6 can divide 12 because 12 can be divided by both 2 and 3. |
Thus the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 |
